Amgram was asked to report on the possibilities for fitting new engines into the fleet of 14 Archer class boats operated by the UK MOD.
MOD UK operates a fleet of 14 CTC “Archer” class boats which are used by the university squadrons as training boats. Despite being built in the period 1985- 1989, the craft are in good structural condition; however the main engines are beyond reasonable repair.
Amgram were asked to look at the options for replacement, reviewing both need to replace main engine and gearboxes, and the possibility of retaining the current shaft line. Additionally the brief to Amgram included a request to investigate both capital cost and some assessment of through life maintenance costs.
Amgram were able to prepare a report highlighting the principle choices, together with proposals for the most effective and economic replacement programme.
